Executive Functioning

Planning, Organization, Time Management, Task Initiation, Decision-Making, Self-Awareness, Prioritizing…these are skills that we all use every day to help us accomplish our goals and tasks at home, work, or school.

These skills can change after a concussion, Long Covid, a stroke, or brain injury, but they are abilities that we can all fine tune and develop!

Did you know that speech pathologists are specialists in executive functioning skills? At Blossom Neuro Speech & Wellness, Allison and Jill offer sessions to support adults and adolescents in learning more about their brains, as well as personalized techniques to help you accomplish what you need to in a day.

FAQs

  • Sessions last about an hour and are personalized to the individual.

We will begin by learning more about you and the tasks that you are responsible for in a day. We will provide education to help you learn more about the brain and thinking skills. We will then collaborate with you to develop individualized strategies that you can apply right away.

Bring your work laptop, papers, backpacks, etc. along with you to the appointment—it is important that this applies to real life!

  • It depends! If you have a diagnosis from your doctor (such a ADHD, Long Covid, post concussion syndrome), it may likely be covered by your insurance.

If not, we see clients at a private pay rate of $90/session. You can use a health savings account (HSA/HRA) to cover this cost.

  • This also depends. Many times, just one or two sessions can be enough to learn what you need to help executive functioning skills improve.

If problems with memory or attention are consistently impacting how easy it is for you to learn or implement techniques, then more sessions may be beneficial. In these cases, there is often a diagnosis that is covered by insurance

  • We work with adolescents, 5th grade and older. Executive functioning is a developmental skill. Sessions would be designed to help kids learn age-appropriate skills and apply them to school.
