Sometimes, stuttering that you dealt with as a child can reemerge in adolescence/adulthood, often alongside major life events or stressors. At Blossom, we work only with adults and older adolescents. Our unique approach utilizes mindfulness-based speech therapy, alongside other techniques, to foster ease and to reduce the impact of stuttering on your daily life.
We will work with you to:
learn more about the brain and stuttering
feel less anxious around talking
manage specific communication situations (phone calls, introductions, ordering food)
learn techniques to find more ease, comfort, and confidence with communication
Therapy for Stuttering
“Being an adult with a stutter, it was really hard to find an SLP that works with adults who stutter. After seeing SLPs in my childhood and in my adult years for my stutter, I can say that Jill from Blossom Neuro Speech and Wellness is hands down the best SLP I have ever worked with. I was so upset and frustrated with my stutter and in return my stutter got worse and making phone calls and communication just kept getting harder and more frustrating. After a few sessions with Jill, I started seeing drastic improvement. She gave me stuttering techniques to use to put in my toolbox, but most importantly she taught me how to accept and embrace my stutter and let me know it's okay to have a stutter. That was the turning point for my speech, being taught to accept my stutter and give myself permission to stutter. It was daily hard work, but with all the tools that Jill provided me, I was able to fully accept my stutter and have techniques I can use on my bad days with my speech. I will forever be thankful for that! I have been taught techniques before for my stutter, but Jill's holistic approach to working with me was the answer I needed. Now I'm confident when I speak, I embrace my stutter, and am not afraid to stutter anymore or try to hide it. I even stutter a lot less than I used to because that stress of trying to fix my speech is gone. I have the tools I need now thanks to Jill and am ready to tackle whatever social interaction comes my way!”
